I hope you manage to come back to Dead Lions. It starts a little slower than Slow Horses but but it really gets going as it progresses. I did a lot of audio books for a long time, but had the same kind of attention/retention problem. I also realized that really the only reason I was listening to them was to add more numbers to my reading list. Kinda gave up on them after that. How's Brief History of Time been for you? I struggled with that one so much.
