I’ve been on screens a lot less lately. I’m reading more. I feel good. History might argue that this buzz of optimism is just a temporary detox. Hope suggests otherwise. I feel healthier, happier, and better armed.
I was drowning out the voices in my head, now I’m leaving them space instead. Space for the hecklers, the depressives, and the incorrigible. I’m unplugging my ears and refusing to la la la. I’ve left the porch light on - to signal the demons home for tea.
Do it everyday for a while. Do it as you would scales on the piano. Do it by prearrangement with yourself. Do it as a debt of honor. And make a commitment to finishing things.
