I read through all of this, including the crossed out parts. I want to know, what is the best material for running socks? BTW, I only run if I'm being chased, but I think the running sock info could be useful in my pedestrian-paced life.

I have found that in all my years of running, the only times I have ever had foot issues is when I wear socks without toes. So while I don't know the best material for running socks I do know the best form factor. And it has toes.

I bought a new pair of wool toe socks in a brand I trust the night before the preview run. After one run they had a hole in the big toe, and several small holes in the sole area. The fibers just fell apart.

I traded them in for some synthetic blend. I anticipate getting more miles out of the new pair. Wool had been fantastic for shirts. Not so much for socks.

I wish you luck in your pedestrian endeavors.
